    1st Lt. Joseph Borkowski, Troop B, 116th Squadron

    Bronze Star

     

    On 20 February 1945, in Germany, in the face of continuous fire and increased danger from enemy mine fields and booby traps, 1st Lt. Borkowski unhesitatingly and voluntarily led a patrol through the mine field to evacuate seriously wounded personnel. He entered military service from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
