On 1 April 1945, in Germany, S/Sgt. Kelly was in the vicinity of Distelhausen and under heavy enemy sniper fire. Although himself wounded and in the face of continuous fire and increased danger, he unhesitatingly and voluntarily faced fire from snipers to give first aid and evacuate seriously wounded personnel. He entered military service from Brooklyn, New York. S/Sgt. Kelly also received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

On my blog, you can read about Vincent Kelly posing for illustrator Normal Rockwell.
